Riedel's Artist and Bolero transform Miyagi Television's communications
Miyagi Television Broadcasting, a key broadcaster in the Tohoku area of Japan's Miyagi prefecture, has chosen the products of Riedel to create a robust communications ecosystem based on the Artist and Bolero systems.
The broadcaster opted for Riedel technology due to its functionality, performance, cost, as well as ease of use and simple maintenance.
Hino Takazumi, from the Technology Promotion Department of the General Affairs Office of Miyagi Television Broadcasting, comments that "although different from conventional systems in some aspects, Riedel's innovative intercom concept has been enthusiastically welcomed by our team and has offered stable performance since its implementation. We are happy to have made this decision and excited about the future possibilities it opens up for us. Looking ahead, we are confident that Riedel will continue to be our trusted partner."
Riedel's Artist and Bolero solutions have enabled Miyagi Television Broadcasting to revolutionize its communications. Together with a node Artist-1024 and a SmartPanel RSP-1232HL, the chain's new communications ecosystem includes 15 SmartPanels RSP-1216HL, four Bolero active antennas y 10 wireless intercom beltpacks Six-key bolero.
Although Miyagi Television Broadcasting originally intended to perform a simple upgrade to its production subintercom, the broadcaster discovered that the antennas could be positioned to serve as subintercomunicador for the entire program, including the news subintercoms.
With beltpacks distributed throughout the offices and studios, the station also uses the Riedel system for various critical functions, such as communication between subcasters and studio staff, PGM exchanges, studio feedback, and room-to-room communication.
Cost savings
This integration of the intercom system with the production and news subintercoms has resulted in great cost savings for Miyagi Television Broadcasting. In addition to obtaining excellent sound quality with its Riedel systems, the broadcaster also benefited from its ability to assign 16 buttons to a single talk panel, adjust headphone amplification levels for specific terminals and use the Director application to better visualize workflow and manage equipment loans for its key stations.
In particular, during a 2022 election special, a panel of experts in an unused studio was tapped to create a simple subchannel for online distribution. By allowing information exchange with terrestrial subsystems, this model strengthened the station's ability to quickly disseminate critical information.
Vincent Lambert, Managing Director of Japan and South Korea at Riedel, said: "Miyagi Television Broadcasting's integration of our intercom systems perfectly demonstrates how Artist and Bolero bring flexibility, uncompromising performance and greater profitability to modern production environments. We are delighted to witness their enthusiastic adoption of our communications solutions, and look forward to the future possibilities this relationship will unlock."
