Multimedios upgrades its news studio and production operations with Grass Valley
Multimedios TV, Mexico's third largest network, has upgraded its news studio and production operations with a full suite of Grass Valley multi-format and file-based equipment.
The new systems that the Mexican Multimedios Tv is installing in two production and playout centers located in Monterrey and Mexico City, where other solutions already exist Grass Valley and third parties, are intended to update your studio and production operations.
Part of the new Grass Valley acquisition is related to an upgrade of the Aurora news editing platform, from SD to HD. To complete the migration to high definition in six production studios, the network has added a new Aurora HD array, LDK 3000 HD cameras, a Kayak HD production switcher and a series of GeckoFlex line modulars for SD/HD signal processing.
Two of these studies are already in the air, while others will be up and running in the coming months. Multimedios TV also acquired the Service Level Agreement to keep the systems updated and 100% available.
“The Aurora platform gives us a fully integrated system, with file-based workflow, which will make our team more productive, putting content on the air more quickly,” said Guillermo Franco Gallegos, director of operations at Multimedios TV.
"We are long-time users of Grass Valley products and appreciate the reliability, new technological features and flexibility of their products, allowing us to integrate them with third-party products in our facilities. We could not have completed this upgrade without the collaboration of the local Grass Valley support team. Their skill and ability to design projects to meet our delivery deadlines really made the difference."
The Aurora network news production platform includes workstations that work with Final Cut Pro, in an environment fully integrated with shared storage. This allows editors of the two solutions to work side by side, sharing the same files, thus speeding up the workflow.
“Multimedios TV is an excellent example of a large customer that was able to expand SD technology to accommodate current HD productions,” said Jeff Rosica, executive vice president of Grass Valley. "Our systems have a very open architecture and that contributed to the integration with third-party systems, which are working perfectly with the Aurora platform. Multimedios TV wanted to make the most of their previous investments and that is what they did."
The communications company has several Grass Valley systems, including SD versions of the K2 media server, Profile XP display servers, M-Series IDDRS, Indigo audio and video mixers and a Zodiak SD production switcher.
