Sergio Cárdenas, Sales Manager of Orad: “we strive to create always cutting-edge technological solutions”

Orad is an internationally recognized developer and manufacturer of real-time 3D graphic solutions, providing high-level broadcast systems for all television activities, especially for live, graphic and audiovisual content among others for news, programs, elections, special events, sports enrichments, virtual studios, augmented reality and virtual advertising.

What are you working on at the moment?

In our region, we are carrying out numerous Channel branding projects, graphics for news, virtual studios and augmented reality for elections, and slow motion systems for regional or national channels such as Telemadrid, CanalSur, TV3, EITB or SIC and RTP in Portugal.

At the level of development and new products, and after the recent acquisition of IBIS as one of the leaders in high productivity and speed MAM, especially in sports environments, where Orad has extensive experience and numerous graphic and video enrichment solutions, it gives us a great capacity to increase the content management, editing and programming features of our solutions, as well as add new products of interest to the market that increasingly complement this type of environments.

Other new graphics solutions for radios, interactivity or stereoscopy are advancing in the development lines, along with new versions of the renowned HDVG platform, now more powerful and robust than ever, with the new HDVG+, a rendering platform in a native 64-bit HW/SW environment in all components, and which takes full advantage of the new RenderEngine with greater capabilities and features for Orad solutions.

What new features will they show at Broadcast IT 2011?

One of our main novelties is PowerPlay, born from the union of Orad and Ibis technology, a solution for the management of sports content with rapid operation and high productivity, which allows tools for synchronized and programmed capture, logging and minutes of items, editing, trimming, browsing and management of transfers of clips in production or produced. All in a simple, complete environment, in an independent system or integrated with third parties or with Playmaker capture and playout servers, with great versatility and robustness for sports.

Referring to PlayMaker, it can also be seen in Broadcast with its latest version that allows, among others, import and export of clips to post-production stations. It is a Slowmotion server solution with multiple advantages: totally digital; up to 8 configurable channels; 3RU chassis with redundant power supply and front hot-removable SATA drives; over 60 hours of HD video storage; high quality JPEG2000 format, without loss, and possibility of DVCPro HD import/export. It is an intelligent tool for editing highlights, playlists and labeling clips. In essence, a server with great power and functionality that achieves great productive profitability.

Another great novelty of great interest to visitors at the IBC and NAB international fairs and that we will bring to Broadcast is RadioTV, a system that allows automating the production and broadcast without operators of a radio and television channel via streaming, for broadcasters mainly, but also for content owners or small broadcasters; providing them with the ability to convert a radio program into a fully operational audiovisual channel with branding rules and events, connection to continuity, news, clips,... and automatic production according to the active microphone at all times.

Finally, our latest software and rendering versions of Maestro, 3DPlay and Morpho3D, the powerful real-time 3D graphics production solutions for News, branding and titling, can also be shown at this new edition of the Broadcast fair.
