'Sad trumpet ballad', 'The skin I live in', 'The sleeping voice', 'There will be no peace for the wicked' and 'Cousins', finalists in these awards established by EGEDA..

The actors Carlos Bardem and Verónica Echegui, accompanied by Enrique Cerezo, president of EGEDA, announced this Monday the five finalist films and the candidates for Best Performance of the 17th José María Forqué Film Award. Established by EGEDA 17 years ago, with the aim of contributing to the dissemination and promotion of Spanish cinema, this award inaugurates the film awards season in Spain for another year.

The finalist films are: Balada triste de trumpeta, by Álex de la Iglesia (produced by Tornasol Films, Canal Plus España, Castafiore Films, Motion Investment Group and La Fabrique 2); The Skin I Live In, by Pedro Almodóvar (produced by El Deseo); The Sleeping Voice, by Benito Zambrano (produced by Maestranza Films; There will be no peace for the wicked, by Enrique Urbizu (produced by Telecinco Cinema and Lazona Films; and Primos, by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo (produced by Mod Producciones and Atypical Films).

This award has a financial prize of 30,000 euros for the best film.

A total of 97 fiction feature films, 47 documentaries and 4 animated feature films, released between December 1, 2010 and November 30, 2011, have competed for these awards.

The EGEDA Special Award for Best Documentary or Animated Feature Film, worth 6,000 euros, will be announced on the same day as the gala.

The finalist actors and actresses for the award for best performance are: Javier Bardem, for Biutiful; Jose Coronado, for There will be no peace for the wicked and Luis Tosar, for While you sleep.

The nominated actresses are Elena Anaya, for The Skin I Live In; María León, for The Sleeping Voice and Pilar López de Ayala, for Medianeras.

A jury made up of journalists, actors and producers will choose the winners of each of the categories. This award is endowed by the AISGE Foundation with €4,000 per category.

The EGEDA Gold Medal, which rewards a producer for an entire career in Spanish cinema, has been awarded in this edition to the director and producer Fernando Trueba

The José María Forqué Award gala, which will be held on January 23 at the Castellana Conference Center, will be directed by Juan Estelrich and presented by actors Alex O'Dogherty, Pablo Puyol and María Blanco.

The gala will be broadcast on Spanish Television.
