RTVE launches its iPad application

RTVE will have the largest audiovisual archive in Spanish available for a tablet, with more than 50,000 series, documentaries and television programs and more than 80,000 radio programs to enjoy 'A la carte'.

RTVE.ES launches the first audiovisual media application in Spanish for iPad tablets, which will allow access to all the informative and audiovisual content of RTVE.ES: more than 100,000 news, more than 50,000 television programs and more than 80,000 radio programs. The Android version of the application will be ready soon.

This new application is part of RTVE's presence strategy on all screens where it is demanded by citizens (connected television, mobile, tablets, consoles, computers, etc.). RTVE applications on mobile phones have already been downloaded nearly three million times and users of the public radio and television website added 14 million unique users in December.

The access page to the RTVE.ES application in its version for iPad offers the user a quick look at the most notable content updated 24 hours a day: the last episode of a series, the most notable audio, the most relevant news coexist with direct access to the areas of interest of the application.

This cover is designed to grow with the personalization of the user, who will be able to quickly locate their favorite videos or links to programs, podcasts or television events on the cover and dynamically place them next to the content recommended by RTVE.ES.

In the upper area of ​​the application, the user has access to live broadcasts from TVE and RNE. In the case of the radio, the function of listening to any of the stations is compatible with navigation through the rest of the application. Thus, the user will be able to listen to the station of their choice while reading the latest news or browsing in search of a video of their favorite series or program.

In addition, all content can be shared on the most used social networks and the management of a personal list of content is also incorporated that the user can activate to read later or view again.

Live television and radio

The iPad user will be able to access the live broadcasts of TVE and RNE with navigation similar to “zapping”. You can change the channel or medium (radio or television), and when you decide, you can take the live signal to full screen and enjoy it in high quality. In addition, at any time you can access an area where upcoming live shows are shown and receive notifications before the start of the program to which the user has subscribed.

Accessing RTVE A la Carta content will be very simple, with a special area where you can see all TVE content: series episodes, documentaries, cultural programs, TVE news and sporting events. More than 50,000 complete television programs, in addition to the live broadcast of the La 1, Teledeporte and Canal 24 Horas channels, represent the most complete and ambitious audiovisual offer for mobility in Spanish.

In the RTVE à la Carte offer you can access the most outstanding content at a glance and also access the latest video that has just been broadcast or see which programs are generating the most interest among the rest of the users.

To facilitate the search for the user's favorite programs and also to help them discover new programs, direct access areas are offered to areas of interest such as series, news programs, documentaries and programs.

The most loyal user of a channel will also be able to access content differentiated by La1, La2, Teledeporte or Canal 24 Horas, where they will find, in turn, the most notable content from the channel they have chosen, the most recent or the most visited by users.

Once you have decided on a program, the iPad will allow you to search for the latest videos, watch them in full or in fragments, and search for episodes by season in the case of series while watching a video. Especially important is the commitment to last-minute information prepared by the RTVE.ES editorial team. The application offers the user the possibility of choosing between different news presentation options and browsing more than 100,000 multimedia information. Thus, a main area is offered with the most outstanding content, the most important news of the moment, accompanied by a list of the most outstanding news.

The user can also choose to view the news with other criteria: that of “the latest”, which shows the most recent information, or that of “the most viewed”, in which the informative content is ordered according to the interest aroused. The most relevant content is also offered, organized by sections: International, Sports, Spain, Culture.

The news browsing experience offers the user the option of reading the information while watching the video or searching for other content related to that news.

RTVE.ES closes 2011 with a record growth of 41% and a historic figure: more than 14 million unique users

RTVE.ES has closed 2011 with a historical record of 14,092,384 unique users in the month of December, according to data audited by OJD. This new record supports the reference of Internet users to audiovisual websites. Between January and December, the data represents a growth of 41% in unique users, and 4.1 million more users on the public radio and television website.

RTVE.ES is also far away from the rest of the media in the sector with a difference of 4.3 million users. Antena3 closes the year with 9,732,314 unique users (2,829,654 of which come from Habbo, an external social network) and Telecinco, with 9,392,402.

RTVE.ES is the audiovisual website to which Internet users spend the most time with 39.51 minutes compared to 07.19 for antenna3.com and 04.17 for telecinco.es.

The year 2011 has also seen the consolidation of RTVE on all screens, connected televisions, computers, mobile phones, consoles and tablets. In December, RTVE.ES broke all records for access from mobile phones (1.7 million users, four times more than it had in January), and from tablets (close to 400,000 users, 138% more than at the beginning of the year).
