The XIV Spanish Film Week in Coslada, Madrid (February 20 to 29) is a unique opportunity to watch the candidate and/or winning films of the 2012 Goya Awards at popular prices.

The Mayor of Coslada, Raúl López and the Councilor for Culture, Youth and Children, Juana Olmedo, presented this Monday the XIV Coslada Spanish Film Week, which starts just after the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences presented the short film the ship Fernando Trullols' pirate won the Goya for best short fiction and Coslada was recognized at the gala.

It so happens that the aforementioned short film was financed by the Culture Department of the Coslada City Council after being the winner of the III Villa de Coslada National Short Film Project Competition, which was organized by this City Council within the framework of the Spanish Film Week. The tape was recorded in the city after a casting among the neighbors. Both the first mayor and the Councilor for Culture wanted to highlight this fact and remember the councilor who launched this initiative, Pedro San Frutos, from IU, who was Councilor for Culture last term.

The XIV Coslada Spanish Film Week (February 20 to 29) is a unique opportunity to watch the candidate and/or winning films of the 2012 Goya Awards at popular prices. Additionally, this year presents a novelty of a Cinema and Flamenco cycle in which documentaries about this art recognized as “Intangible Heritage of Humanity” will be exhibited for free in La Jaramilla.

The Goyas

The Week will start on Thursday, February 23 with the screening of the short film that won the Goya 2011 The pirate ship. Afterwards, the Goya winning film will be shown, There will be no peace for the wicked, by Enrique Urbizu. On Friday the 24th you can see While you sleep and on Saturday the 25th The spark of life, by Álex de la Iglesia. Sunday will be the turn of The skin I live in, another of the winners of the Academy Awards. Mateo Gil's western will arrive on Monday the 27th Blackthorn and on the 28th the futuristic Eva. The cycle will close on Wednesday the 29th with The sleeping voice.

The price of admission for these screenings, which will take place at the La Rambla cinemas, is 3.50 euros for members of the municipal Film Archive and 6.50 euros for others. In the case of the bonds, the price is 17.50 euros and 24.50 euros respectively.

Cinema and flamenco in La Jaramilla

The main novelty of the exhibition this year is the I Film and Flamenco Exhibition, which will officially open on Friday, February 24 with the documentary Senderos del Alma. Previously, the flamenco performance by Antonio Mato and the Casa de Andalucía de Coslada will take place.

On Saturday, February 25, the short films will be shown Hand and foot syndrome, Dance of the brushes e Greenhouse. That same day the stage action will take place The impure goddess. The cycle ends on Sunday, February 26 with the short film Flamenco behind bars, winner of the 2nd edition of the Flamenco Short Film Festival in the documentary category. This same day the “Techari” Group (freedom in caló) will perform closing the exhibition. Admission to all the films in this exhibition is free until capacity is reached.

Cursed Cinema

The Cursed Cinema section (IV Spanish Independent Film Festival) will be based in the theater café of the Margarita Nelken cultural center. The films will be shown The double steps, Tralas Luces y Monica del Raval on February 27, 28 and 29 respectively. Here entry will also be free.

Completing the program of the XIV Coslada Film Week is an exhibition on Spanish film posters from 2011, and two cultural outings. The first is scheduled for Thursday, February 23 in order to visit the Villarejo de Salvanés Cinema Museum. The second will be on the weekend of February 25 and 26 to travel the Albacete route of the film Amanece que no es poco, in which the municipalities of Ayna, Liétor and Molinicos will be visited.
