VSN expands line of cloud solutions with dedicated booth at NAB
VSN presents as a world premiere at NAB VSNCloud, an innovative “Platform as a Service” (PaaS) specially designed for the sector.
VSN presents at its stand at NAB 2012 a complete range of tools, services and examples of real applications of business models that facilitate the use of cloud architecture in the Broadcast and Media sectors. Under the title “Enabling the cloud” the advantages that Cloud systems offer when they are efficiently and intelligently integrated with traditional in-house systems are shown, in relation to powerful storage, distribution, management and safeguarding capabilities.
An innovative PaaS in the Cloud
VSN presents as a world premiere at NAB VSNCloud, an innovative “Platform as a Service” (PaaS) specially designed for the sector. It is aimed at any company whose business is structured around the production, distribution and monetization of video content and allows you to optimally manage and monetize video and multimedia assets with complete security and independence under any desired cloud architecture (Private, Public or Hybrid).
This platform is designed so that broadcasters, rights owners, producers, rights marketers, VOD and OTT platforms and content aggregators can find direct and clear answers in relation to the possibilities and possible risks that the cloud offers for their business model.
Visitors to the VSN stand will be able to attend live presentations with examples of using the cloud to improve the bottom line. In addition, at the stand you will be able to see two real examples of business models such as ErreQueErre, a marketplace platform for the sale of B2B content for Broadcast due to its ease and power of application for web business models; or the multi-screen content distribution possibilities offered by the integration between VSN's Automation, MAM and News systems with a powerful online video and radio distribution platform such as Flumotion.
Jordi Utiel, CEO of VSN, commented that "for 5 years now, VSN has been a pioneer in betting on cloud solutions, with its content exchange solution VSNIPTransfer. More than 300 television stations, news agencies, production companies and content distributors exchange thousands of hours under the VSNIPTransfer platform. This year, thanks to the new generation of VSNCloud software solutions, the doors are opened to the construction of "cloud" business models, key in the evolution and growth of the Broadcast and Media entertainment sector.”
VSN officially presents its latest project at NAB 2012: the Spider platform. It is an open and reliable ecosystem of web applications and services for the implementation of Business Process Management (BPM) in Audiovisual and Broadcast environments to make their processes and content management profitable.
Faced with the expansion and flexibility needs of the audiovisual industry, VSN's Spider platform is a pioneer of a new generation of comprehensive business-oriented software solutions for the Broadcast and Audiovisual sectors. It incorporates a combination of absolutely differential elements, some specific to the Broadcast sector (transcoding, automation, cataloging, etc.) together with cutting-edge technology in IT environments (network optimization, BPM, etc.) and a design oriented from its origin towards business and profitability. In addition, this platform opens the doors to cloud services in any of their modalities (private, public or hybrid).
VSN collaborates with FIMS
VSN is not only present at the NAB fair as an exhibitor but also as a promoter of the FIMS project. Known for offering compatible and integrable solutions with third parties, VSN actively collaborates at the FIMS stand presenting its vision of the project.
VSN reinforces the vision of FIMS through two concepts: interoperability and standardization. In 2009, the Spanish company saw the need to adopt an integration standard between various solutions on the market confirmed, so it decided to follow all the forum's recommendations, slightly modifying its roadmap to include them.
VSN contributes to the industry by helping to establish the foundations of workflow integration for Broadcast through the SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) standard. In fact, it is one of the most active companies in the development of television software applications based on these new trends and collaborates very actively in various international forums.
Interpretation of VSN over FIMS
VSN applies the FIMS recommendations in its Spider Platform with two projects: BPM and Orchestration System (VSNWORKFLOW MANAGER) and Media Bus Middleware (VSNSTORAGE MANAGER). With VSNWORKFLOW MANAGER, the platform offers a workflow design and orchestration solution using connectors (FIMS compatible) for any software application. The Media Bus Middleware implementation (VSN's VSNSTORAGE MANAGER) contains Ingest Service (Cloud ready), Transfer service (optimization/acceleration, UMP protocol) and Transformation service (Transcoding, rewrapping and normalization).
FIMS is a joint initiative of AMWA and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for the development of a technological platform that allows greater interoperability of systems and components. As a member of the AMWA general members committee, the Spanish company is part of the FIMS project working group. Manufacturers such as Sony, Avid, IBM, Harris, Harmonic or Quantel are also part of this proposal, along with the associated TV channels (RAI, BBC, TV2, Bloomberg, IRT,...).
