Imagine expands its SNP line with the new SNP-XS

Designed for environments where space is limited, but performance cannot be compromised, Imagine Communications will bring the new SNP-XS to IBC 2025, a compact and ultra-quiet option that expands the Selenium Network Processor (SNP) media processing line.

With a reduced size of 2RU, SNP-XS is the ideal solution for edge deployments, facility expansions, remote routing terminals, mobile production and any space-constrained environment.
Imagine's SNP platform has become, with more than 5,000 units sold to date, already feeds more than 150,000 video streams y 2 million audio streams all over the world. Based on the same field-proven architecture as the flagship SNP platform, SNP-XS is compatible with SMPTE ST 2110 and ST 2022-6 IP standards, while maintaining a Seamless interoperability with SDI-based workflows, making it a perfect bridge for customers moving to IP or optimizing an existing SDI installation.

John Mailhot, senior vice president of product management at Imagine Communications, comments that “IP technology is no longer limited to top-tier broadcasters and large-scale projects, but has become the way forward for media operations of all sizes, making SNP-XS the right tool at the right time.”

Compact and ultra-flexible

“Whether as a high-quality SDI processor or as an ST 2110 gateway for smaller jobs, SNP-XS offers the same reliable capabilities of the proven SNP platform in a compact, ultra-flexible form factor, ideal for any environment where space is at a premium,” adds Mailhot.

Despite its small size, SNP-XS does not compromise on any features or performance. The latest addition offers flexible I/O configurations and runs all 16 current SNP applications right out of the box, including UHD and HDR conversion, multi-screen, master control and JPEG XS. It shares the same software versions, APIs, control protocols and feature licenses as the flagship SNP, ensuring full compatibility and consistent implementation across operations.

“Even in large facilities there are small jobs, such as in editing rooms and stand-up studios, where a handful of signals enter and leave the network,” adds Mailhot. “The flexible mounting and ultra-low noise design, along with analog audio output capabilities, make the SNP-XS a perfect compact 2110 terminal for small rooms in large systems.”
