'Marvel, The Avengers', first Marvel Studios film to exceed one billion at the box office
The superhero team has grossed $373.2 million in the United States and $628.9 million at the international box office.
Marvel, The Avengers has crossed the threshold of one billion dollars at the global box office on May 13, 19 days after its release. This is the first Marvel Studios film and the fifth Walt Disney Studios film to reach this important milestone. Additionally, it is the first Marvel film to be distributed by Disney.
The news comes a week after Marvel, The Avengers made history by grossing $207.4 million in the United States on its first weekend, the biggest opening of all time. The film has grossed $373.2 million in the United States and $628.9 million internationally.
Only 12 films in history have managed to raise more than 1 billion dollars and Marvel, The Avengers joins the list of Disney films to surpass this figure along with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story 3 y Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
In Spain, the film has raised more than 12.8 million euros and has been seen by more than 1.8 million viewers since its premiere on April 27.
On May 8, Disney announced that the sequel to this production was already in development, after announcing last month that the sequel to Captain America will be released on April 4, 2014. A sequel to Thor It is scheduled for release on November 15, 2013, and the third installment of the successful saga of Iron Man, which has earned more than $1.2 million worldwide, will hit theaters on May 3, 2013.
