Yvonne Blake, 2012 National Cinematography Award

La diseñadora de vestuario Yvonne Blake obtiene el galardón concedido por el Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deportes, por “dedicar su actividad profesional al cine español con rigor, elegancia y creatividad”.

El Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deportes ha decidido otorgar el Premio Nacional de Cinematografía 2012 a la diseñadora de vestuario Yvonne Blake.

The award, worth 30,000 euros, is intended to reward the most outstanding contribution in the Spanish cinematographic field, preferably demonstrated through a work made public during 2011.

In previous editions, Agustí Villaronga, Álex de la Iglesia, Maribel Verdú, Javier Bardem, Alberto Iglesias, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, Javier Aguirresarobe and Mercedes Sampietro, among others, have received the award.

Winner of 4 Goya Awards and 1 Academy Oscar (for Nicolás and Alejandra), the English designer has participated in numerous international productions such as Superman o Jesus Christ Superstar and in Spanish films like The ghosts of Goya, Tirante Blanco, Carmen, Rowing in the wind o Don Juan in hell.

Throughout his career, Blake has worked with directors such as Francois Truffaut, Albert Finney, Richard Quine, John Sturges, Richard Donner, Paul Verhoeven, Mark Rydell, Peter Bogdanovich, Milos Forman, Richard Lester and Al Pacino. Also Spanish, such as Gonzalo Suárez, Vicente Aranda or Jaime Chávarri, always dressing great stars, from Marlon Brando to Audrey Hepburn through Ava Gardner, Robert de Niro, Sean Connery or Elisabeth Taylor.
