Yvonne Blake, 2012 National Cinematography Award
The costume designer Yvonne Blake obtains the award granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, for "devoting her professional activity to Spanish cinema with rigor, elegance and creativity."
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports has decided to award the 2012 National Cinematography Award to costume designer Yvonne Blake.
El galardón, dotado con 30.000 euros, está destinado a recompensar la aportación más sobresaliente en el ámbito cinematográfico español puesta de manifiesto preferentemente a través de una obra hecha pública durante 2011.
En anteriores ediciones han recibido el premio Agustí Villaronga, Álex de la Iglesia, Maribel Verdú, Javier Bardem, Alberto Iglesias, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, Javier Aguirresarobe o Mercedes Sampietro, entre otros.
Ganadora de 4 Premios Goya y 1 Oscar de la Academia (por Nicolás and Alejandra), la diseñadora inglesa ha participado en numerosas producciones internacionales como Superman o Jesus Christ Superstar y en películas españolas como The ghosts of Goya, Tirante Blanco, Carmen, Rowing in the wind o Don Juan in hell.
Throughout his career, Blake has worked with directors such as Francois Truffaut, Albert Finney, Richard Quine, John Sturges, Richard Donner, Paul Verhoeven, Mark Rydell, Peter Bogdanovich, Milos Forman, Richard Lester and Al Pacino. Also Spanish, such as Gonzalo Suárez, Vicente Aranda or Jaime Chávarri, always dressing great stars, from Marlon Brando to Audrey Hepburn through Ava Gardner, Robert de Niro, Sean Connery or Elisabeth Taylor.
