The EOS 6D, the first EOS with built-in Wi-Fi, allows you to share images immediately after capturing them, transferring them wirelessly to external storage devices, or uploading them to Facebook and YouTube

Canon today launched its latest EOS 6D digital SLR camera, the world's lightest digital SLR camera with a full-frame CMOS sensor.

This new model establishes a new entry point into the Canon full-frame camera range and is ideal for those who want greater control over depth of field and maximize the possibilities offered by the EOS System's wide range of wide-angle EF lenses.

The EOS 6D combines a powerful full-frame imaging system with high low-light performance in a compact, robust and lightweight design. For the first time in an EOS model, Wi-Fi and GPS connection capability is included, allowing you to capture spectacular images, mark them with information about the location where they were taken, and transmit them wirelessly to a computer, the cloud, or smartphones.

20.2 Megapixel Full Frame CMOS

The EOS 6D features a new 20.2 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor. A new 11-point AF system delivers the highest low-light performance of any Canon AF system to date. With a focusing capability of up to -3 EV, equivalent to moonlight, subjects stay in focus even in the most difficult lighting situations, providing the freedom to shoot landscapes or portraits at night and capture the true atmosphere of the scene with minimal noise.

The inclusion of a full-frame sensor offers greater control over depth of field when shooting portraits, allowing the photographer or videographer to easily isolate subjects, with an attractive blurred background. With the EOS 6D, it is now possible to explore the full potential of your EF wide-angle lenses to capture every detail of vast landscapes, with lenses from 8mm to 800mm. Additionally, the powerful DIGIC 5+ image processor enables a host of automatic modes and creative shooting features that complement fully manual controls to offer complete flexibility to a wide range of users.

HDR mode allows you to capture both highlights and shadows in difficult lighting conditions, while Multiple Exposures allow photographers to combine up to nine separate exposures in a single image in the same camera, to create a dramatic effect in the final image. A silent drive mode offers a more subtle option for capturing candid portraits and taking photos at events such as weddings, while a single-axis electronic level visible in both the viewfinder and LCD screen ensures horizontal composition of the scene.

Built to share

The EOS 6D, the first EOS with built-in Wi-Fi, allows you to share images immediately after capturing them, transferring them wirelessly to external storage devices, or uploading them to Facebook and YouTube. Additionally, videos and photos can be viewed on DLNA-compatible HDTVs for viewing high-quality images on larger screens. Additionally, by connecting to a smartphone, it is possible to control the camera remotely, select shooting and focus settings before releasing the camera shutter and viewing the captured image.

With the EOS 6D's built-in GPS, images can be marked with their location data as they are captured. Travelers can also create a more complete record of their trips by using the GPS Logger function to mark the route taken, which can be displayed using the supplied Map Utility software.

Robust and intuitive design

Measuring just 144.5 x 110.5 x 71.2 mm and weighing 770 grams, the EOS 6D is the most compact full-frame EOS digital SLR camera ever made. Its dust- and drop-proof body, made partially of magnesium, provides robust protection and an intuitive button layout for easy control. Photographers can also view the photos they have captured in spectacular detail and natural colors on a large, high-resolution 7.7 cm (3.0”) Clear View LCD screen, which features an improved anti-glare design for viewing in bright sunlight and from extreme angles.

A new BG-E13 battery-grip provides additional power for longer photo shoots or during video recording, as well as facilitating portrait and landscape shooting.
