Canon launches the EOS C500 Mark II, a compact and versatile 5.9K full-frame camera
This EOS Cine series camera features a full-frame sensor that works in combination with Canon's new DIGIC DV 7 processor.
In the prelude to IBC 2019, Canon launches the new system camera EOS C500 Mark II. This series camera EOS Cinema It has a full format sensor that works in combination with Canon's new DIGIC DV 7 processor. Allows internal recording Cinema RAW Light de 5,9K y XF-AVC 4K 4:2:2 10-bit and has recording capacity Cinema RAW Light with 5.9K resolution on new, faster memory cards such as CFexpress cards. For greater flexibility and efficiency, professionals can simultaneously record the same file format to two CFexpress card slots.
The camera's compact size provides filmmakers with unparalleled creative freedom. Thanks to its flexible and modular design, professionals can configure the camera with different expansion units to adapt to the requirements of each production.
The EOS C500 Mark II is the first EOS Cinema System camera to feature a interchangeable lens mount by user for EF with Cine Lock and PL, giving professionals a wide variety of lens selection. It is also the first EOS Cine System camera to support Electronic Image Stabilization System (Electronic IS).
Thanks to the 5.9K sensor and the DIGIC DV 7 processorNewly developed, the EOS C500 Mark II uses a high-quality processing algorithm when upsampling from 5.9K to 4K. This suppresses moiré and reduces noise, resulting in exceptional image quality. With its +15-stop latitude with wide color space, the EOS C500 Mark II is perfect for High Dynamic Range Productions. In addition, the camera is equipped with a motorized Full Frame ND (2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 stops) neutral density unit, which makes it possible to create images with a shallow depth of field, even during the day.
Efficient recording and workflow
The versatile capacity of multi-recording in various formats The EOS C500 Mark II provides workflow efficiency to cover all production requirements. With Canon's new DIGIC DV 7 image processor, the camera allows internal recording in Cinema RAW Light format, with a resolution of 5.9K. The Cinema RAW Light format has all the benefits of a RAW file in terms of flexibility in post-production, but allows the EOS C500 Mark II to record high-quality files in a smaller file size.
In addition to the camera's ability to record internally to CFexpress cards in Canon XF-AVC format with 4K 4:2:2 10-bit, simultaneous recording is possible, as well as proxy recording. This provides professionals with the ultimate in flexibility, allowing them to choose the format that best suits their recording and workflow needs. The camera features an advanced 12G-SDI interface with transmission speeds four times faster than 3G-SDI. This 12G-SDI interface enables 4K 50/60p content to be output over a single cable, simplifying workflows. Additionally, the HDMI output enables 4K 50/60p via a single cable.
Filmmakers can set up the camera using two different expansion units: the EU-V1 and the EU-V2. Two viewfinders (EVF-V70 and EVF-V50) are also available as optional units. The ability to configure the camera with expansion units, along with its compact and lightweight design, offers filmmakers greater shooting flexibility.
The EU-V1 expansion unit adds a Genlock/Sync BNC interface, Remote B interface for the optional RC-V100 remote controller, as well as an Ethernet interface for IP streaming or browser remote control. The EU-V2 expansion unit also includes these interfaces, but adds two additional XLR inputs, as well as a 12-pin lens interface. On top of all this, it is equipped with a V-Lock battery mount with D-tap and 24V power output.
Electronic Image Stabilization
The EOS C500 Mark II is the first camera to incorporate Electronic Image Stabilization (IS) on an EOS Cine System camera, which provides the camera with 5-axis Image Stabilization. When a lens compatible with data transmission is attached, focal length data is automatically received. However, when using a non-communicating lens, Electronic Stabilization is possible by manually entering the focal length data. Additionally, Electronic Image Stabilization is also compatible with anamorphic lenses.
As with other cameras in the range, the EOS C500 Mark II incorporates autofocus Dual Pixel CMOS AF from Canon. Offering both one-shot AF and continuous AF, professionals can rest assured that their footage will be in sharp focus. Additionally, they can benefit from smooth and intuitive touch focus operation with the new LM-V2 LCD screen, as well as the Dual Pixel Focus Guide, which notifies professionals where the focus position is, whether it is in front or behind, helping with precise focus control. Additionally, the EOS C500 Mark II features Face Detection AF and Tracking AF, allowing focus control in a wide variety of recording situations. To further fine-tune AF performance, the camera offers the ability to adjust the AF tracking speed and responsiveness.
The EOS C500 Mark II is compatible with User LUTs, allowing filmmakers to apply or customize their own LUTs. By loading them into the camera for precise look monitoring, filmmakers can apply different LUTs to each terminal. With the added LUT button, professionals can enjoy greater operational flexibility. The EOS C500 Mark II also enables higher speed recording, up to 50/60 fps, at 5.9K resolution with the Cinema RAW Light codec.
