Jaime Martínez (Canon): “the C50 is the lightest, most versatile and compact camera so far in the Cinema EOS range”

Jaime Martínez, especialista de Cine y Vídeo en Canon Iberia, presenta en esta videoentrevista en IBC 2025 las principales novedades del fabricante como la nueva EOS C50. Canon también estrena la lente más angular hasta la fecha de su gama Cine-Servo, CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1.

The new Canon EOS Cinema C50 has a sensor CMOS 7K full frame that, together with a advanced DIGIC DV 7 processor, provide spectacular image quality for both video recording and taking photos, including Internal RAW video recording at up to 7K at 60P, high speed recording up to 4K a 120P / 2K a 180P, as well as 32 MP high-resolution photographs and lots of detail.

Como destaca Jaime Martinez “la nueva C50 es la cámara más ligera, versátil y compacta del momento en la gama Cinema EOS con una capacidad de grabación en full frame 7K hasta 60 fotogramas con open gate, siendo la primera cámara de Canon que ofrece esta resolución”.

The grabación open gate (paso abierto) permite sacar todo el aprtido a la superficie completa del sensor para disfrutar de la máxima resolución y flexibilidad. Al captar las imágenes en todo lo ancho y alto del sensor mediante el nuevo modo Full Frame 3:2 del sensor, se consiguen imágenes más grandes, las cuales aprovechan el círculo completo de los objetivos full frame. La grabación open gate ofrece a los cineastas mayor flexibilidad en la postproducción, since it allows you to have horizontal and vertical video formats to edit them with total freedom from the same footage, with a very wide margin to reframe the images. When used in conjunction with anamorphic lenses, the result is a taller image with a wide, immersive cinematic look.

La lente más angular

En lo que al nuevo objetivo Canon CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1, estamos ante la lente más angular hasta la fecha de su gama Cine-Servo. Con su 11mm super angle focal length and its wide angle of 100 degree vision, representa una elección flexible para estudios reducidos y para eventos dinámicos en directo, en los que el encuadre tanto del sujeto como del entorno resulta esencial.

Available in both RF and PL mounts, the new lens incorporates the drive unit servo digital eXs-V new generation, for superior control and functionality.Weighing approximately 3 kilos, the CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1 is the lightest lens in Canon's Cine-Servo range, which is ideal for the use of gimbal stabilization, cranes, robotic systems and cable-suspended cameras. Operators shooting with the camera on their shoulder will also appreciate its reduced weight.

Thanks to its detachable servo unit, the CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1 can be easily configured for the filming live sports, events and cinema. It is the second Cine-Servo lens equipped with Canon's next-generation eXs-V digital servo drive unit, which offers more precise and ergonomic servo control, a faster-responsive iris and USB-C connectivity.

The CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1 is available in RF or PL mount, increasing its versatility. In the PL mount, the lens is compatible con la Cooke /i Technology y con ZEISS eXtended Data, for real-time metadata output, while with the RF mount it provides additional capabilities, including support for Dual Pixel CMOS AF, for fast and smooth autofocus, plus advanced lens correction data.

Por último, en cuanto a producción con cámaras PTZ, Jaime Martínez destaca la colaboración con Multican Studio, “un software que es capaz de hacer automatizaciones junto a nuestras PTZ gracias al protocolo XC” y resalta su aplicación en entornos de producción virtual donde la cámara “entiende en todo momento el movimiento del fondo”.
