Euronews opens an office in Washington, in collaboration with ABC News
Two months before the North American presidential elections, Euronews opens a new permanent office in Washington. German journalist Stefan Grobe, an expert on the United States, will take charge of it.
Having opened a series of strategic offices in Brussels, London, Doha, Cairo, Paris, Moscow and kyiv, Euronews announces the opening of a permanent office in Washington.
In collaboration with ABC News, this new office's mission is to produce content exclusively for Euronews, being as close as possible to current events on the continent and, now, with the perspective of the North American elections, with international significance. This office contributes to the channel's expansion strategy and tends to reinforce the impact of Euronews in the world.
ABC News correspondents and experts as well as the iconic presenter, Christiane Amanpour, will provide regular analysis of American politics and current notable events, exclusively for Euronews, in a series of interviews and duplexes.
In return, Euronews will make exclusive current affairs available to ABC News, covering European affairs, including the upcoming elections in Europe. Euronews will also make its coverage of international events available to ABC News.
Heading the office as permanent correspondent is Stefan Grobe, a highly experienced journalist and expert on the United States. He is based in Washington, in the offices of ABC News, at the center of the first information network in the United States.
Stefan Grobe began his career as a journalist working for numerous German media outlets, such as Die Welt and the DPA press agency, as well as the AFP office in Bonn.
In 1996 he joined the international continuous information channel, Euronews. In 1999 he was appointed head of the German editorial team and then took charge of the Business section of Euronews. Since 2011 he has produced the weekly magazine Business Weekly. Stefan has a doctorate in American history, a diploma obtained between Hamburg and Kansas.
Lucian Sârb, editor-in-chief at Euronews, highlighted that "the Washington office is a key element of our international apparatus in a crucial period for the world, with the United States preparing to elect its new president. Stefan's presence on the ground and close cooperation with our partner ABC News are the guarantee of exclusive, high-quality content, for our audience, available on all our media platforms."
