Euronews opens Moscow office
Ten years after launching its Russian edition, Euronews, which continues its strategy as an international information hub, opens its office in Moscow and appoints Alexander Shashkov as correspondent.
Continuing the dynamic of expanding its coverage of key areas of the planet and following the offices in Brussels, London, Doha, Cairo and Paris, Euronews has announced the opening of a new office in Moscow. The chain plans new openings in the coming weeks.
Euronews' strategy in Russia is built around a double mission: on the one hand, with the reinforcement of its information service at the center of Russian news in a particularly busy year: on the other hand, with the enrichment of unpublished editorial content, dedicated to the challenges of the largest country on the planet and its 143 million inhabitants.
Following these objectives, Lucian Sârb, Euronews Editorial Director, has entrusted the opening of the Moscow office to experienced journalist Alexander Shashkov. In a context of imminent presidential elections, in March 2012, the correspondent will have the mission of being as close as possible to current Russian political and economic events and, more especially, to topics that have an impact on international news.
