Harmonic reduces consumption and space in the headers

Using the new SupraLink SPL 7210S and PWRLink 4200S transmitters, cable operators can optimize fiber usage and reduce operating expenses related to space, power consumption and fiber availability.

Harmonic has announced at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo the launch of a new family of compact transmitter modules to complement the company's recent launch of the NSG Pro CCAP platform and address the key issues facing operators today: space, power consumption and fiber availability.

With their ultra-high optical density and compact design, the new SUPRALink SPL 7210S and PWRLink 4200S will significantly reduce rack space and headend power requirements.

Uniquely capable of supporting up to 20 transmitters in 3-RU, the new transmitters ensure double the number of transmitters that can be added to the given rack space, resulting in a significant reduction in power consumption and enabling cost-effective delivery of high-quality and high-bandwidth services, such as high-speed data, IP video, high-definition video and time-shifted television across an existing fiber cable operator's infrastructure.

These transmitters will complement the recent GSN Pro converged access platform that Harmonic has just launched, providing benefits such as high density and energy efficiency in optical devices at the cable headend.”

At the heart of the transmitter is 1550-nm DWDM technology that offers 40% greater fiber range than the standard 1310-nm in systems at a comparable price. The SupraLink SPL 7210S is ideal for a wide range of applications, offering operators the ability to support advanced high-bandwidth services.
