TSA chooses Interxion for channel distribution to cable headends

Interxion's neutral data centers in Madrid offer real-time connections with the different cable headends.

Telefónica Audiovisual Services (TSA) has chosen the data centers of Interxion in Madrid to distribute the signal from different television channels to the cable headends in real time.

TSA transcodes more than 30,000 hours of content per year for VoD and performs more than 2,300 transmissions per month. Until now, television signals were delivered via point-to-point connections from the content producer to the distributor. Now content can be transmitted in a more agile, flexible and economical way from specialized data centers, where all the cable head-ends, telecommunications operators and broadcasters are located.

Francisco Panduro, Broadcast Manager of TSA, highlights that "making connections directly in this data center is very competitive in price. More and more companies in the audiovisual sector are present in these professional data centers; it is clear that it is the future. On the one hand, costs are reduced by not having to use dedicated routes or send the signal via satellite. In addition, the connection with the cable headends is immediate, in many cases it has not even taken 24 hours."

The increasing interest in consuming audiovisual content, the emergence of new content distribution platforms and technological evolution itself have caused many companies in the broadcast sector to demand the services of specialized data centers.

"The exponential growth of content has made it easier for companies in the audiovisual sector, from VoD content distribution platforms to cable operators or broadcasters like TSA, to seek proximity to connect.
