Promax DTTV headends will play a key role in London 2012
The EBU trusts Promax to distribute the signals from the different satellite, IP, A/V, etc. providers, both in SD and HD, to distribute and package them in DTT multiplexes that will be transmitted to numerous broadcasters on the occasion of London 2012.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has trusted Promax to distribute the signals from the different satellite providers, IP, A/V,… in different resolutions, both SD and HD to distribute and package them in DTT multiplexes that will be transmitted to all international clients that provide information coverage of the London Olympics.
The equipment selected has been the DTTV headends that have great flexibility thanks to the different transmodulation modules available that allow signals with an MER greater than 40 dBs to be obtained in any of the accredited journalists' workstations. In those places where the signal to be retransmitted requires broadcast quality, this is where the DTTV Promax system allows it to develop its full potential. The cost per channel ratio is optimal in that environment. More than 40 adjacent channels are occupied at the EBU facility. The system allows COFDM modulation in both UHF and VHF.
With the selection of the DTTV header by the EBU, this configuration is reaching very important installation levels in sporting events since the Promax equipment was recently selected in the African Football Cup and is regularly used as a distribution system in many football fields, in Formula 1 broadcasts, in the Motorcycle Grand Prix,... Other typical applications are the extension of DTT coverage in areas where DTT via satellite is not applicable, in large shipping companies and in unique buildings such as theaters, auditoriums, fairgrounds and institutional buildings. Finally, many broadcasters have taken DTTV as a reference for internal signal distributions.
