How will films be distributed in the future?
The Preparatory Action for Film Circulation in the Digital Age grants almost two million euros to three European consortia, in which Spanish distributors participate, for the multiplatform release.
The European Commission, through the Preparatory Action for Film Circulation in the Digital Age, has granted aid close to two million euros to three European consortia, including two Spanish distributors, to promote the distribution of first-run content on multiplatform.
Golem and Vértigo will benefit from these new aid granted by the European Union, through their participation in two of the three consortia selected as initiatives aimed at evaluating the benefits of releasing films through different platforms on the same day.
That is, a simultaneous release in movie theaters, on television, through video-on-demand and the internet, instead of the traditional window release.
The selected projects are:
- SpeedBunch. Coordinated by wild Bunch. Co-beneficiaries: Wild Bunch Distribution (France), Wild Side (France), Filmonline (France), Elle Driver (France), Wild Bunch Germany (Germany), BIM (Italy), Vértigo (Spain). Aid amount: €500,000.
- Tide. Coordinated by ARP. Co-beneficiaries: Europa distribution (25 distributors from 17 European countries), Fandango (Italy), Urban Distribution (France), WIDE (France, Golcrest (United Kingdom), Under the Milky Way (France). Aid amount: €800,000.
- Age. Coordinated by artificial eyes. Co-beneficiaries: gutek films (Poland), REZO Films (France), The Match Factory (Germany) Golem (Spain), Cinéart (Benelux). Aid amount: €695,500.
At the moment, thanks to this initiative, it is planned to carry out the simultaneous multi-platform premiere of around twenty films, between the three consortia, in different European countries, including Spain.
