A high-performance streaming platform integrated by Garland enables live, high-definition production with distribution to web, mobile and tablet devices.

Britain's The Telegraph Media Group has been working to expand its live online video coverage for its audience. The media outlet has been working with partners Garland Limited to find an effective solution.

Looking to increase the presence of live video online for its news, sports, politics and entertainment content, The Telegraph has invested in the technology necessary to enable live video streaming. This investment will allow the medium to broadcast not only to its website, but also to its audience using tablets and smartphones.

In addition, journalists will be able to send live video to the Telegraph headquarters thanks to the backpacks LiveU that use 3G networks as a link.

James Weeks, director of video at The Telegraph, said: "Digital consumers expect a first-class video service, and The Telegraph is leading in this field. We have been quick to recognize the opportunities that new technology now presents to be able to follow the development of stories like never before. The changes we have made to our studio will allow us to augment live video with expert analysis and informed opinion from the best team of journalists and commentators in the industry."

Garland Partners helped develop the entire workflow architecture around live video streaming, and assisted in the installation and commissioning of all equipment.

In addition to LiveU's technology, The Telegraph is using Teracue's technology. A compact ENC-200 encoder enables live video contribution, while the DEC-200 decoder receives remote live streams in real time over a public Internet. The high-performance streaming platform provided by Garland enables live HD production to web, mobile and tablet devices.

The Telegraph's headquarters are also linked to the BT Tower in London to incorporate news content from the Associated Press service. Thus, you can mix this content with what your teams report live from the LiveU backpacks.
