LiveU debuts at IBC 2019 the first 5G cellular link developed specifically for live coverage
The new LU600 5G supports 5G mobile frequencies around the world and allows users to enjoy all the benefits of next-generation networks, including lower latency, with 4K HEVC encoding.
LiveU has announced in IBC 2019 your new solution LU600 5G Fully designed for global news and live sports coverage over next-generation networks. With internal 5G modems y high efficiency antennas covering all frequencies below 6GHz for 5G and 4G, integrated with technology HEVC 4K from LiveU, the LU600 5G offers users a powerful, reliable and future-proof mobile link solution.
Samuel Wasserman, CEO and co-founder of LiveU, highlights that "LiveU has always been at the forefront of broadcast technology. With the rapid deployment of 5G in major cities around the world, we are more committed than ever to staying ahead of the game. Our new LU600 5G solution with integrated 5G modems takes full advantage of the faster speeds and guaranteed high bandwidth offered by next-generation 5G networks."
The LU600 5G supports 5G mobile frequencies around the world and allows users to enjoy all the benefits of the new networks, including lower latency, higher video quality and resolution, and fast file uploads, even in congested areas.
The super low latency enabled by 5G is particularly beneficial for 4K live sports productions. High-quality coverage continues seamlessly where 5G is not available, for example in rural areas or during network construction. If live production crosses over into non-5G areas, the LiveU unit automatically links available networks that support any combination of 3G/4G/5G modems.
Wasserman maintains that “in parallel, we are working closely with the world's leading telecommunications operators to validate our equipment with emerging 5G networks to make the most of bandwidth and other benefits.”
Colaboración con AT&T
In the United States, LiveU y AT&T have teamed up to broadcast live news and sports, testing the real-world impact and performance improvements that 5G technology has on live video production using LiveU units. These devices have recently been used over a 5G network to cover the NBA Summer League. Elsewhere, LiveU is participating in 5G trials and events with other flagship operators, including Vodafone in Italy y KT Corporation in South Korea. Additionally, in South Korea, LiveU successfully broadcast the centenary orchestra paying tribute to the provisional government live to five countries around the world via SK Telecom's 5G wireless network.
"We've already seen how cellular networking has largely replaced satellite broadcasting for live news coverage. With the power of 5G, the potential is even greater for every type of live sports production," Wasserman concludes.
