LiveU LU600

LiveU has announced plans to expand its IP global satellite hybrid service, which works in combination with the HEVC encoding technology.

Increasing the range of options, the new solution, based on banda ka de Eutelsat, will allow customers to seamlessly use satellite or cellular connectivity, streamlining both the billing structure and workflow. LiveU will offer its customers in Europe Ka satellite airtime in combination with their existing cellular roaming data packages. With this hybrid solution, operators do not have to manually choose which network to use; The choice of connectivity is made automatically based on a combination of signal strength and cost effectiveness.

LiveU will work with Eutelsat, whose wide beam coverage of the satellite KA-SAT spreads throughout Europe and parts of North Africa.

The collaboration uses NewsSpotter, Eutelsat's next-generation Satellite News Gathering (SNG) product, developed in response to the growing demand for transferring multimedia content from the field. NewsSpotter is highly efficient through extremely compact satellite terminals and also innovative as it provides native bi-directional IP connectivity, making it easy to integrate with modern news production and multimedia content management workflows. Being Ka-band based, NewsSpotter terminals are compact and portable enough to fit in a backpack and mount in a small car.

Customers can now take advantage of the solution LU600 HEVC from LiveU to use satellite connectivity whenever they want. This is a fully integrated service with a single point of support contact and a single invoice. A range of packages are available.

Zion Eilam, Regional Vice President of Sales (EMEA), LiveU, said: "This is a truly integrated service offering, bringing together the best of both worlds through the market leaders in their respective fields. Making this as seamless and effortless as possible for our customers was essential, ensuring they can focus on bringing high-quality live content to their viewers. The partnership with Eutelsat has achieved this, complementing our hybrid Ku satellite service solution."

“Sin duda, el mercado de la contribución, especialmente las noticias, ha cambiado significativamente en los últimos años, con la velocidad de despliegue y la movilidad -a precios realistas- cada vez más en el centro de atención. NewsSpotter fue una respuesta clara a eso y esta colaboración con LiveU es el siguiente paso natural”, comenta Gerry O’Sullivan, vicepresidente Ejecutivo de Global TV and Video de Eutelsat.
