BeIN Sports acquires exclusive rights for the Middle East and North Africa to the Olympic Games from 2018 to 2024

The broadcaster has acquired the rights for all content distribution platforms.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that BeIN Sports has won the tender for the exclusive broadcasting rights for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for the upcoming Winter (Pyeongchang 2018) and Summer (Tokyo 2020) Olympic Games. The lot also includes the 2022 and 2024 Olympic Games, whose venue has yet to be designated.

IOC President Thomas Bach highlighted that Bein Sports "with its excellent track record in broadcasting, we believe will provide fantastic coverage to the MENA region of each edition of the Olympic Games, including free-to-air television coverage. Bein Sports is also committed to providing unprecedented year-round promotion of Olympic sports, including significant support for the Olympic Channel in the future."

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, CEO of beIN Media Group, acknowledges that “despite having had the privilege of broadcasting the Olympic Games for many years in the MENA region, the direct acquisition of the Games from the IOC fulfills our ambition to bring all premium sports to our viewers in the region.”

Bein Sports has acquired the rights for all content distribution platforms, including free-to-air television, subscription television, Internet and mobile phone in all languages.
