Video-Line, the first news agency to use LiveU in its live coverage

Video-Line, one of the leading news agencies in Germany, has begun using LiveU's LU60 transmitters to deliver live news over 3G/4G LTE networks.

Headquartered in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany), Video-Line provides information material to the main German broadcasters, as well as newspapers and other online video platforms. After extensive research, Video-Line has opted for LiveU, based on its speed, transmission quality (almost without interruption, even in difficult conditions), ease of use (integrated in a backpack that hardly requires manual intervention) and the customer support that LiveU offers.

Markus Wüllner of Video-Line TV has acknowledged that "the advantage of mobile broadcasting via LiveU is clearly the flexibility and speed. As a news provider, we have to be on the scene of an accident, murder or fire as quickly as possible, without disturbing the emergency teams. For example, we were the first news agency to arrive at a terrible multi-vehicle accident on a highway in dense fog last year. In less than two hours we were on the air with the first images. We were only able to achieve this by using technology "LiveU, unlike the needs of a mobile satellite unit whose booking and transfer process can take even hours, LiveU can be easily configured along the way and deployed as soon as the team arrives at the news location."

LiveU's flagship, LU60, uses 3G/4G LTE networks with patented radio frequency technology for superior durability, even being able to output 1080 HD video. And with less than a second latency compared to satellite contributions.

Wüllner has also emphasized the ease of connecting a variety of cameras to the unit via SDI or Firewire. “This technology is also interesting for smaller broadcasters and production companies, even companies that have not previously considered live content,” added Wüllner.

Video-Line uses this technology both to send raw pieces and pieces already edited in the field.
