Companies from the GAIA and EIKEN Clusters develop an online Social Television project
The Social TV project will also make it possible for individual users, organizations and companies to generate and manage audiovisual content on the Internet, creating networks of private screens in places such as educational centers, sports spaces, hospitals, conference centers, etc.
A consortium of Basque companies from the audiovisual and ICT sectors are working together to develop a social television platform for the creation and administration of online audiovisual content.
Within the framework of the project, new methods of presenting information are being worked on, in a simplified and automated way, also taking advantage of the potential of social networks and encouraging user participation.
The companies Ibermática, Gizerbitek, Ibercom, Telbask, Arista, Eleka, Irusoin, Orio Produkzioak and Mixer have participated in the development of Social TV since 2010.
To this end, within the scope of the Social TV Project, the participating companies are working on the development of new 2.0 technologies specifically oriented to the end user, such as content generator (UGC – User Generated Content); in the research of new video transmission technologies over mobile networks (3G/4G) and in the development of new content automation technologies (both audio and video).
The new platform that will be generated "will allow the consortium of participating companies to position itself in the market as a provider of services specialized in the needs of the new market in which it intends to enter from 2013."
