Abertis has formalized the acquisition from Telefónica de SERVICIOs of 7.2% of the share capital of Hispasat, thus reinforcing its desire to continue growing in the satellite infrastructure sector in those projects in which it can assume industrial leadership.
Abertis Telecom, a company wholly owned by Abertis Infraestructuras, has formalized the acquisition of 7.2% of the share capital of Hispasat after some of the satellite operator's shareholders exercised their preferential acquisition rights and the operation was authorized by the Council of Ministers at its meeting on December 28, 2012.
This operation represents a disbursement of 68 million euros and reinforces Abertis' will to continue growing in the satellite infrastructure sector in those projects in which it can assume industrial leadership. Likewise, it demonstrates Abertis's ability to reinvest in attractive and long-term projects.
After this operation, Abertis became the main shareholder of Hispasat with a direct participation of 40.6%.
