CICE announces a Professional Master's Degree in 3D Special Effects
Based on an advanced tool like Houdini, this Master is designed to train students and provide them with the necessary expertise to tackle all projects that include 3D special effects.
CICE, Professional School of New Technologies has launched a Professional Master's Degree Specialized in 3D Special Effects with Houdini MHX, which responds to the growing demand for 3D professionals from different companies in the audiovisual sector. The Master is designed to train students and provide them with the necessary expertise to tackle all projects that include 3D special effects, providing more freedom and creativity to production, as well as an improved visual appearance.
VFX has been present for years in cinema, television and advertising, although the appearance of tools such as Houdini now allows us to recreate situations and carry out simulations that, until today, were excessively expensive or difficult to achieve. Visual perfection, minimization of errors and increased realism are some of the fundamental characteristics provided by this software, considered the most advanced for creating top-level visual effects. Houdini's workflow allows professionals to perform complex special effects in a non-linear manner in addition to having control over the processing of the effect. Master's students will master a tool that is today required by both large corporations and small multimedia companies due to its power and the ability it offers to reuse resources.
Begoña Sendino, from the CICE Academic Department, has pointed out that "our main objective is to train 3D operators for all types of multimedia industries capable of developing a type of special effect that, until recently, due to time and costs, were prohibitive and unviable. Houdini is a pioneer in his working method and has been successfully tested in the harshest production environments."
Rise of 3D technology
3D technology is constantly evolving and today its application extends to areas as diverse as architecture, cinema, television, advertising or video games, with the aim of providing maximum realism and movement to all productions. In turn, companies request specialized profiles that have the necessary skills to develop and carry out their projects. Demand has increased especially in the area of post-production and animation, a sector that is based almost entirely on 3D, in order to give true realism to the production.
"3D modelers and programmers specialized in special effects have to be creative professionals, capable of capturing reality both in animated characters and in virtual environments that they create. At the school we aim to develop these professionals in a complete and comprehensive way, helping them with the leading tools on the market and the most recognized experts in the sector," says Begoña.
In addition, it is worth noting that the school has a job board with more than 1,300 companies, including organizations where 3D is a key technology. An example of the success achieved by Spanish professionals specialized in 3D is the staff of the successful film “Tadeo Jones”, where 70% of the production professionals were trained at CICE.
"The special effects sector is increasingly in demand within the audiovisual production industry simply because it saves time and money. With technological tools we can achieve an even more realistic effect than with hours of makeup and layout. Thanks to packages like Houdini, which have revolutionized the market, today it is possible to achieve an effect that is more in line with reality, while simplifying the steps to follow in the process," concludes Begoña Sendino, from the CICE Academic Department.
With this curriculum, the Professional School of New Technologies proposes an alternative to traditional teaching. This master's degree is aimed at those interested, who without necessarily having a university degree, wish to join the company as true experts in the field. In addition, the school has the latest generation technologies, so students will be trained with the cutting-edge equipment of the moment.
