SuperSens digitizes and converts films with the Teranex 2D processor

SuperSens uses the Teranex 2D processor to digitize film and video, and to reduce noise and highlight images, improving overall image quality.

Based in Amsterdam, the company specializing in asset restoration and archiving, SuperSens, has purchased the Teranex 2D processor from Blackmagic for standards conversion, analog video tape ingest and digitization of 8mm and 16mm film for your works in public and private collections.

Clients of the service include national institutions such as Stadsarchief Amsterdam (Amsterdam Municipal Archive) and the Groningen Audio Archief Visueel (Groningen Municipal Archive). Founded by Jean-Pierre Sens, SuperSens has been offering video, film and audio digitization services for over 12 years and recently expanded its offering to a larger customer base across Europe.

SuperSens uses the Teranex 2D processor to digitize film and video, and to reduce noise and highlight images, improving overall image quality. To digitize film collections, telecine scanners are connected to a Teranex 2D processor via SDI, capturing the film material and channeling it through a Thunderbolt port to a Mac running Blacmagic's Media Express software, which manages and organizes the material. Images are edited and archived on an internal server. SuperSens also uses the Blackmagic Design SmartView Duo monitor and various UltraStudio 3D and Express UltraStudio devices for capture and playback via Thunderbolt.

Jean-Pierre Sens admits that "before this purchase I was already fascinated by Teranex technology for many years. The possibility of capture and playback via Thunderbolt and the attractive price were decisive factors in our decision to integrate Teranex into our workflow. During our testing phase of the Teranex 2D processor our team was very impressed with the image quality and the number of filters and conversions available.
