Sergio Oksman, Goya for Documentary Short Film for 'A story for the Modlins'

The documentary claims its place in the Goya and in the cultural industry with a documentary that is having an excellent run in theaters.

A story for the Modlins, by Sergio Oksman won over The Violinist of Auschwitz, by Carlos Hernando, to The Widows of Ifni, by Pedro Palacios and Pacheco Iborra, and A filmmaker in La Codorniz, by Javier Rioyo, in the category of best documentary short film.

Okmans tiene las ideas muy claras respecto al oficio de cineasta: “en general creo que es un oficio que demanda mucho tiempo. Es difícil adaptarnos a los cánones de la industria y de las subvenciones. Yo, para culminar este trabajo, he tardado cuatro años. No se trata de encontrar la historia, sino de la forma de articularla. Esta creación cultural debe ser algo protegido aunque no haya beneficio económico”.

En sala este cortometraje está teniendo un excelente recorrido. Acaba de exhibirse en el Festival de Sundance y está acudiendo a diversos encuentros. “Es lo que esperamos los que hacemos cine minoritario” atestigua Oksman.
