AJA reinforces its commitment to streamlining broadcast and post-production workflows

From now on, Ki Pro Quad will be available, a new portable video recorder that allows true 4K camera-editing workflows. The Ki Pro Quad enables a 4K7Quad HD/2K/HD endpoint stream with the performance of Apple ProRes and the flexibility of RAW data.

AJA is presenting at NAB 2013 its new Hi5-4K and ROI mini converters, powerful and portable devices that use proven AJA technology to streamline broadcast and post-production workflows.

AJA's Hi5-4K Mini Converter provides easy monitoring connection from professional 4K devices using four 3G-SDI outputs to new 4K monitors equipped with 1.4a HDMI capable 4K inputs. Supporting HD workflows, the Hi5-4K is also a flexible mini converter for HD workflows requiring 3G/HD-SDI to HDMI conversion. AJA's mini ROI converter enables high-quality conversion and real-time scaling of DVI-D and HDMI outputs to baseband video over SDI. With extensive audio functionality, incredible image scaling, a sleek user interface, plus aspect and frame rate conversion, the ROI seamlessly incorporates computer signals into video production.

Hi5-4K features include:

• Entradas 4x 3G-SDI
• Output 1x HDMI 1.4a (4K capable)
• 3G/HD-SDI to HDMI conversion for HD workflows
• Ability to connect KONA 3G SDI-based 4K output to 4K HDMI monitors

The Ki Pro Quad enables a 4K7Quad HD/2K/HD endpoint stream with the performance of Apple ProRes and the flexibility of RAW data in a recording and playback package that can be easily mounted on a wide variety of cameras, meeting current and future workflow needs.

More interoperability

The Io, T-TAP and KONA product range will support the next version of Adobe video editing software, including Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Speedgrade for Mac and Windows clients.

Additionally, AJA has announced support for the Pro Tools HDX and Pro Tools Native platforms with the entire AJA line of Kona and Io products. AJA supports all high definition and standard definition frame rates and resolutions currently used by ProTools via the Avid Video engine. AJA professional video products that support ProTools include Kona LHe+, Kona LHi, Kona 3 and Kona 3G, Io Express, Thunderbolt-based Io XT, and T-TAP.

On the other hand, in Las Vegas it announced its agreement with the manufacturer FilmLight through which its Kona 3G capture and playback card will support multichannel ingestion and playout for FilmLight's new FLIP real-time image processor.

FilmLight will package AJA's Kona 3G as part of FLIP, which has been designed to bring the power of complex Baselight color correction straight to the set. Leveraging Kona 3G, FLIP users will be able to easily preview the color grading of footage with a range of HD video input and output channel combinations and set FLIP to record or playback multiple HD-SDI streams such as 1 in and 3 out, 2 in and 2 out, 3 in and 1 out.

Finally, note that AJA's new Corvid Ultra OEM cards are supported by Pablo Rio from Quantel. This is the first time Quantel has offered interoperability with any video card that was not its own, and AJA's Corvid Ultra is the exclusive third-party solution delivering 4K workflows with Pablo Rio. Quantel is the latest OEM partner for AJA's Corvid line of video input and output solutions and will offer Corvid Ultra with Pablo Rio turnkey systems.
