Starting from effective solutions, experience, integrity, innovation and… passion, EVS has managed to consolidate its leadership position in the market.

EVS and NAB 2013

The Belgian company EVS, which is attending NAB for the first time with its new corporate image, is experiencing significant growth in both sports, entertainment/news/media, and major events. Its growth in entertainment and media is now 28% annually, while one of its traditional pillars, sports, is growing at 12% year-on-year.

Joop Janssen, CEO of EVS, assured in Las Vegas that one of the reasons for this growth is found "in a clear positioning of approach to partners that combine experience and knowledge, to, as a result, offer customers the best support and service. On the other hand, EVS has gone in a few years from being focused on a technological niche to a totally open approach focused on four strategic markets."

These markets are: sports, entertainment, news and media. It is in this last area where EVS has taken giant steps in recent years in terms of ingest, mastering and archiving, with a predominance of an MXF environment, accompanying content throughout its entire life cycle.

EVS MediaEVS Media is developing solutions under the IMF App2 standard along with truly innovative file mastering tools with EVS OpenCube MXF. Likewise, support for XS codecs such as XDCAM HD with native HD is leading to the emergence of unique, unprecedented dual coding processes.

Some of the latest projects carried out are a good example of this interoperability between its systems and the support of partners at the same level in terms of innovation. One of the most interesting is found at the Sporting Kansas City Stadium. In this case, C-Cast technology together with Sporting Innovations have made it possible to open new business perspectives, maximize the live broadcast infrastructure and enrich the offer to the viewer.

EVS Sports

Sports

At NAB 2013, EVS is demonstrating rich live broadcast solutions, showcasing different types of workflow that increase the value of live content.

EVS Sports solutions enhance live external production operations from mobile units, providing advanced connectivity and immediate access to workflow for remote production, and integrated content management capabilities for sports production centers.

The Belgian company's new proposals aim to increase connectivity in order to facilitate remote collaboration of live events, developing new tools to access, navigate and edit content remotely. One of the stars in this area will be its C-Cast solution for distribution of rich content on the second screen.

EVS Sports will also launch a new line of production asset management capabilities for sports venues that will include intuitive software tools and web browsing with IPDirector with a suite of management applications for video production and real-time timeline editing capabilities based on Xedio CleanEdit.

With the aim of facilitating operations in mobile units, EVS has introduced a series of new tools highlighting a new user interface for LSM operators. These tools are based on a multi-touch tablet, which is fully integrated with the LSM remote control panel.

EVS Entertainment

Entertainment

For entertainment, EVS proposes flexible workflows to produce shows, reality shows, talk shows, contests and series. At NAB, EVS will present the capabilities of its XS server with advanced multicodecs and native XDCAM support.

EVS Entertainment also has among its tools the Streamer XFly, capable of broadcasting a production with multiple camera angles for a portable storage platform, accelerating multi-camera recording from the mobile unit itself and facilitating access to post-production.

EVS shows at its booth in Las Vegas an advanced function called Director's Cut in IPDirector, with native integration of all video switchers with different angles of the cameras associated with post-production. IPDirector also features advanced integration with the new Adobe Premiere Pro, speeding up and simplifying creative operations.

Improvements to the IPDirector suite for video production management applications now bring significant improvements. An IP Link is a panel plugin that allows users to search through clips that are reclassified on EVS servers when they are using the next version of Adobe Premiere Prosoftware. The solution will be showcased at NAB 2013 in the EVS Entertainment and Enriched Live Solution demo zones.

4K Live Replay

EVS is conducting private demonstrations in Las Vegas of a prototype of the world's first system designed for slow-motion replays in 4K resolution. These demos are based on the EVS This would be the equivalent of 16 live high definition channels guaranteeing up to eight million pixels at 50 or 59.94 frames per second.

In this world-first demonstration, the XT3 server is used in an input and output channel configuration. EVS is currently working on 4K live replay support using a two-in, one-out configuration, allowing a single XT3 server to continuously record two 4K cameras while providing 4K replays and highlights instantly.

In this demo, the XT3 4K server is controlled using the EVS LSM panel.
