Spanish National Radio, host of the 19th Euroradio Assembly of the EBU in Tenerife

Almost a hundred professionals from the main European radio stations meet in the capital of Tenerife on May 2 and 3.

Nearly a hundred professionals from the main European radio stations will meet in Tenerife on May 2 and 3 as part of the 19th Euroradio Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union (UER). This is a professional meeting in which advances and studies of radio are shared in both technological and content, regulatory and budgetary aspects. It is the second time that this assembly is held in Spain.

In this edition, the challenges of public radio carried out by state stations will play an essential role, from the social to the budgetary aspect, in which different experiences and financing models will be shared. In the area of ​​content, there will be presentations on topics such as sports and information radio, or investigative journalism, and studies by the EBU expert groups on these subjects will be put on the table.

In these professional conferences, experiences are not only exchanged but also business and institutional agreements and international cooperation alliances are reached, in addition to electing the Euroradio committee, which is made up of 14 members from different countries, including a president and three vice presidents.

In this edition, almost a hundred managers and professionals from public and private radio stations from 29 states participate, ranging from Vatican City to Germany, passing through most of the countries of the European Union, and with the participation of Switzerland and Algeria as well.

La asamblea se inaugura el jueves 2 de mayo, a las 9.30 de la mañana, con la presencia del presidente del comité Euroradio, Alain Massé, junto al director de RNE, Manuel Ventero, y el ministro de Industria, Energía y Turismo, José Manuel Soria.

La UER en Tenerife

Aunque es la segunda vez que se celebra la Asamblea de la Unión Europea de Radiodifusión en España, la cita devuelve a Tenerife a la escena de los encuentros internacionales de radio, como las reuniones informales que ya celebró la propia UER en dos ocasiones en los años setenta.

Por la relevancia del evento, en esta ocasión han colaborado con RNE y RTVE en su organización varias instituciones como el Cabildo de Tenerife a través de Turismo de Tenerife, el Gobierno de Canarias, a través de Turismo de Canarias y el Ayuntamiento de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a través de la Sociedad de Desarrollo. También ha colaborado en la organización y patrocinio el hotel sede del congreso, Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey de la capital tinerfeña y el Casino de Santa Cruz.

Durante los dos días de celebración de la asamblea, RNE emitirá parte de su programación desde Tenerife.
