TSA-Media Networks carries out the first 4K UHDTV broadcast in Brazil
The images were generated at the TSA headquarters in Ciudad de la Imagen (Madrid) and sent from Hispasat to a presentation event in Rio de Janeiro.
Telefónica Audiovisual Services (TSA) – Media Networks have carried out, together with the satellite operator Hispasat, a 4K broadcast, then played on an 84-inch screen, at an event in Rio de Janeiro to celebrate the start of operations of the Amazonas 3 satellite. The images were generated at the TSA headquarters in Ciudad de la Imagen, Madrid.
TV Globo is already carrying out tests in 4k and is in negotiations with FIFA to get some of the Confederations Cup matches recorded in Ultra HD. The director of Ericsson LATAM, Al Nuñez, commented that cable and DTH operators should begin to offer the first domestic STBs compatible with 4k signals in the second half of 2014.
TSA has already carried out a daily and live demonstration in 4K ultra high definition (UHDTV) via satellite, also with Hispasat, within the framework of the annual DVB World Forum conference, which was held this year in Madrid in March.
Ultra high definition television at 4K resolution multiplies by four the number of pixels on a high definition screen, that is, the amount of information in each image. In this way, the resolution is four times higher than conventional high definition and provides unprecedented image sharpness.
