Christie plans to incorporate laser projection technology into its film product lines, business product lines, and visualization and simulation solutions, to the benefit of its customer base.

Christie recently organized a high frame rate (HFR) laser projection demo at its center in Kitchener (Ontario) in which it offered the best in the film industry a visit to its manufacturing facilities as well as the first laser projection in the history of HFR cinema and alternative content on a 9-meter white screen.

Douglas Trumbull, recent winner of the Gordon E. Sawyer Academy Award; Ian Bidgood, Technical Director of Park Road Post Production; Matt Cowan, chief scientific officer at RealD; John Helliker and Bert Dunk, directors of Screen Industries Research and Training Centre; and stereographer Demetri Portelli, held a vibrant information-sharing and discussion session with Christie's product development and engineering employees about high frame rate, laser projection, and the future of 3D and 4K projection.
The industry experts gathered there agreed that, to overcome the current crisis in the sector, it is necessary to differentiate itself from the multiple existing viewing possibilities that range from the tablet to the home cinema, passing through all possible types of exhibition options.

Doug Trumbull commented that “HFR projection of spectacular films on large, bright screens will enable the production and exhibition of cinematic experiences that are astonishingly immersive and infinitely more powerful than those offered by any other medium.”

In line with what Trumbull expressed, Ian Bidgood suggests that "... 3D images must be impressive enough to once again attract the masses of fans to cinemas. And Christie's technology will be responsible for providing, within the field of laser, the high levels of brightness required to match the images as well as high frame rate material, with new projection and cinema solutions at the service of the present and the future."
