Chiswick Cinema opts for Christie RGB laser projection
RGB laser projectors Christie have helped impress audiences at The Chiswick Cinema, an independent multiplex in London, owned by Trafalgar Entertainment and managed until its opening by Lyn Goleby.
Built on Chiswick High Road, on the site of the former Rambert Ballet building, at the heart of the community, the cinema has made use of Christie's versatile portfolio of RGB and RGBe cinema projectors in its five screens, and features a late bar license and an adjoining private dining room serving gourmet food for a luxurious experience.
Each movie screen has laser RGB de Christie for exceptional image quality and an excellent return on investment. With screens of sizes ranging from 4 meters to 8.5 meters, each projector was specially selected to meet the requirements of three of Christie's ranges: CP2306-RGBe, CP4315-RGB y CP2309-RGB and two technologies: RGBe y RealLaser RGB.
Darren Briggs, head of engineering Omnex, project consultant, explains the choice of opting for the CP2306-RGBe for screens four and five, after having initially considered xenon-based projection systems: “The CP2306-RGBe offers a DCI luminosity for about 30,000 hours. Plus, its sealed light source requires very little maintenance. “The color gamut is wide and the contrast is good, so it produces great image quality for the audience.”
"The RGBe was a new and unknown platform for us and we were very impressed when we saw the images, as they were very vibrant. We didn't expect it to be so bright, in fact it exceeded the published specifications when running near minimum power," he adds.
The other three screens use RGB laser projection with Real Laser, in 4K and 2K resolutions in the form of CP4315-RGB and CP2309-RGB. Christie's sales director, Phil Lord, highlights that “it is based on the way we have designed the Multi Laser Pack Devices (MPD) to offer the public detailed and true-to-life images - brightness, image uniformity and high contrast - and is factory calibrated to maintain color balance for years with little maintenance. Most importantly, it also offers the best total cost of ownership in the industry and 50,000 hours of useful life.”
