Facilis Terrablock Shared Storage Streamlines Post-Production at ABC Studios
With support for 4TB drives, Terrablock hosts up to 96 terabytes in just 5RU providing all the bandwidth and storage needed.
Terrablock You are easy has provided a shared storage solution to two ABC Studios studios in Burbank (California), as part of a new workflow that integrates post-production in terms of editorial, online, titling, color, dailies and effects.
Developed by the company DigitalFilm Tree (DFT) this workflow has already streamlined series like Mistresses y Perception.
With support for 4TB drives, Terrablock hosts up to 96 terabytes in just 5RU providing all the bandwidth and storage needed while reducing power consumption and heat emission over a traditional SAN. This robust and compact design allows post-production teams to easily complete dailies on set. Once filming is complete, hard drives with Apple ProRes 444 RAW footage are loaded into the Terrablock to process dailies.
At the same time, an editing computer is capable of processing multiple Avid DNxHD streams at 36 Mbps disconnected from the SAN. There is always a link to the material located on the Terrablock, so the post-production team can edit and reconnect the material online in ProRes 444 instead of having to continually rely on a SAN or LTO file.
