CNN consolidates its collaborative environment with Adobe Anywhere
With this solution, Adobe solves one of the biggest obstacles in collaborative environments such as the exchange of very large files, the duplication of media and access to proxy files.
Thanks to Adobe Anywhere, the solution Adobe For collaborative video production that allows users to work anywhere, CNN professionals have improved their productivity in a fully collaborative environment that allows them to edit, share and finish pieces wherever they are using standard networks and hardware.
With this solution that was finally launched last week at the Atlanta headquarters, Adobe has solved one of the biggest obstacles in collaborative environments such as the exchange of very large files, media duplication and access to proxy files.
Jim Guerard, vice president of business solutions at Adobe, said that with Anywhere "these problems have been solved. Team members can work together with centralized media and resources, allowing remote users to work together on a project from virtually anywhere."
Michael Koetter, senior vice president of media technology and development at Turner Broadcasting, admits that "just a couple of years ago, everyone's access to our content as interoperable files was a huge milestone. Our next step is to make this access fully. Adobe Anywhere promises to be a key technology in this strategy, as it will allow our journalists to participate in any phase of content development and collaborate on stories, no matter where they are."
Adobe Anywhere is installed on a server cluster and interacts with two main components: Adobe Anywhere Collaboration Hub and Adobe Mercury Streaming Engine.
Collaboration Hub contains all project information and metadata, manages user access, and allows multiple team members to access and work with the same project files at the same time. The Mercury Streaming Engine, for its part, provides real-time dynamic viewing streams with GPU-accelerated effects of material in Premiere Pro CC and Adobe Prelude CC. Additionally, this system eliminates hours of time spent transferring or duplicating large files, providing team members in remote locations with instant access to media files from anywhere.
CNN's infrastructure will be complemented by Adobe Creative Cloud creative tools such as Premiere or After Effects.
Architecture
Adobe Anywhere is based on an open platform architecture that includes the use of existing infrastructures and
Integration with standard IT hardware, software and networking processes, thereby reducing the need for additional resources and capital investments. Adobe Anywhere does not require large file transfers and does not rely on proxy files, allowing the video professional to work directly with high-quality media. For complete control and security, Adobe Anywhere is hosted on-premises with other media storage and asset management infrastructure.
