Harris updates SatLink playout center

The workflow has been designed with baseband and file ingestion, integrating Harris Broadcast's media asset management platform along with several automation tools.

Harris Broadcast has undertaken the project to update the playout center in high definition and the launch of a content management center in SatLink Communications (Tel Aviv).

SatLink, as one of the world's eleven largest independent teleports, content managers and HD broadcast service providers, will leverage Harris Broadcast technology for media ingestion, quality control, versioning, asset management and playout preparation. The workflow has been designed with baseband and file ingestion, integrating Harris Broadcast's media asset management platform along with several automation tools to manage the entire HD workflow, as well as a PlatinumTM matrix to ensure the management of video, audio and data signals with total reliability throughout the installation.

Working closely with local distributor Bluebird TV, Harris has deployed an ingest process based on its MAM that allows you to check the status of content availability and move/restore items as needed for near-line storage. Both ingestion, archiving and restoration of assets are managed and prioritized according to the date/time of issue before moving to the automation system, which will prioritize the content.

Using the caching mechanisms of the automation system and the direct search/retrieval workflows provided by the media asset management software, the Harris Broadcast system will constantly monitor the status of content by displaying alerts to operators when content is not found.
