The Evertz Mediator playout arrives at the technology center of the Russian channel Channel One
Channel One, one of the main Russian television stations, has integrated the playout and content distribution system Evertz Mediator at its Ostankino technology center in Moscow.
During the last four years, the facilities of Channel One have begun a process of transition to IP using the solutions of Evertz SDVN. The latest step taken in this direction has been the integration of Evert Mediator, which is already used to emit 12 canales news, sports and entertainment to more than 250 million viewers.
Beyond the objective of continuing to transform its equipment to integrate it into its growing IP infrastructure, Channel One considered it necessary to switch to Mediator for several reasons. Among them, we find the doubling of the number of channels broadcast, from six to twelve; the desire to move to “channel-in-a-box” technology for on-air programs; the need to improve compatibility with the output format requirements of satellite and cable providers, and the desire to improve the integration of your broadcast system with your business applications and take full advantage of your graphics capabilities.
29 playout engines
The systems integrator WINDOW-TV and your service company They would take it away worked with Evertz to bring this project to fruition, which makes Channel One the first Russian network to adopt the standard SMPTE ST2110.
The Evertz Mediator system installed in Ostankino includes 29 playout engines integrated into Overture (ORT)Live; 14 recording servers ORT Media Client; two proxy generator servers Render-X; an advanced multi-node virtualization environment that hosts the Mediator core and compute nodes; 15 workstations VIEW Cube, and two storage clusters Isilon (main and backup), each with nine nodes. For the IP infrastructure, OKNO-TV installed two routers Evertz EXE (main and backup) with servers Great SDVN y Client Host. A router was also installed EQX with Magnum for intake.
Other components include monitoring tools such as VistaLINK PRO with graphics for the network management system (NMS) and inSITE for real-time data analysis; four routers count TR4800E; two synchronization systems 5700MSC-IP Grand Master Clock y Video Master Clock accompanied by 5601AC02 Automatic Changeover, and a series of racks with modular products incorporating converters, amplifiers and infrastructure equipment.
