Apple will launch its new Mac Pro in December
Designed around an innovative unified thermal core, Mac Pro integrates Intel's latest Xeon processors with up to 12 cores, two high-performance GPUs, six Thunderbolt 2 ports, PCIe-based flash storage, and ultra-fast ECC memory.
Apple redefines its line of professional computers with the launch of the new Mac Pro. Designed around an innovative unified thermal core, the Mac Pro integrates Intel's latest Xeon processors with up to 12 cores, two high-performance GPUs, six Thunderbolt 2 ports, PCIe-based flash storage and ultra-fast ECC memory.
Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said: "The new Mac Pro represents our vision of the future of the professional computer, we have reinvented it from top to bottom. Nothing has ever been seen like it. The new Mac Pro comes with up to 12-core
“The Mac Pro is a revolution for professional desktop computers in terms of design and performance – just look at the blazing speed of DaVinci Resolve and real-time video capture with UltraStudio 4K,” said Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design.
"The two workstation GPUs in the Mac Pro have increased the speed of MARI five-fold, creating an incredibly fluid and completely new painting experience. This kind of performance is a dream come true for digital artists," said Bill Collins, CEO of The Foundry.
The new Mac Pro, which will go on sale in December, is designed around a unified thermal core that allows the computer to efficiently share its thermal capacity between all processors. The revolutionary fan is so efficient that the new Mac Pro is as quiet as the Mac mini. The result is a professional desktop with unprecedented performance in a design that is just 10 inches tall and one-eighth the size of the previous Mac Pro model.
Redesigned in every way, the Mac Pro is designed to tackle the most demanding jobs. The new Mac Pro features 4, 6, 8, or 12-core Intel to take advantage of the power of the Mac Pro's CPU and two GPUs.
The new Mac Pro also features PCIe-based flash storage that delivers sequential read speeds of up to 1.2 Gb/s, up to 10 times faster than conventional hard drives. With quad-channel DDR3 ECC memory with speeds up to 1,866 MHz, the new Mac Pro offers memory bandwidth of up to 60 Gb/s, doubling that of the previous generation Mac Pro. The incredible power and bandwidth of the Mac Pro allows you to edit video in 4K resolution and play it in real time.
With six Thunderbolt 2 ports delivering data transfer speeds of up to 20 Gb/s for each external device, the Mac Pro has redefined desktop expandability. Each of the six Thunderbolt 2 ports supports up to six daisy-chained devices, meaning the user can connect up to 36 high-performance devices: from external storage devices to multiple PCI expansion cards to audio and video breakout boxes. Thunderbolt 2 technology uses existing Thunderbolt copper and optical cables and is fully compatible with previous Thunderbolt peripherals and cables, and works with the latest generation 4K monitors. The new self-configurable IP software feature with Thunderbolt software in OS X Mavericks allows you to quickly connect Mac computers with Thunderbolt.
The new Mac Pro delivers unrivaled power for Apple's professional apps like Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X, and Aperture. Final Cut Pro Flash storage makes importing and exporting high-resolution images faster with Aperture. Logic Pro
The new Mac Pro comes with OS X Mavericks out of the box. Mavericks is the tenth version of the world's most advanced operating system and is available for free in the Mac App Store. Along with more than 200 new features, Mavericks introduces features like Finder Tabs and Labels and improved multi-screen support and key new technologies for impressive performance like Compressed Memory to make your Mac do everything faster and smoother. Mavericks also significantly improves the performance of dual-GPU systems by optimizing OpenGL and OpenCL.
