Abu Dhabi Media installs its fifth Calrec audio console
The first console was used by ADM in August 2012 in its studio in London on the occasion of the Olympic Games.
Abu Dhabi Media (ADM) has installed its fifth digital audio console in its studios in the United Arab Emirates Calrec Omega. The console was first used in August 2012 in ADM's London studio for the Olympic Games and has since been used in Abu Dhabi studios for audio mixing in sports and news programmes.
Abdul Farid Kabani, head of engineering and maintenance at ADM, said: "The mixer is designed for live TV broadcasting and is one of the most reliable solutions on the market with one of the best cold start times, which was an important requirement for us. We used to have an analog audio mixer, so for SDI embedded audio we had to use an external de-embedder. Omega sets allows you to create multiple projects and load them instantly. The console is very reliable, with several “Standard backups in critical areas such as control and DSP.”
The Omega console gives ADM the reliability and ease of use that its older analog console was missing, along with the ability to de-embed embedded SDI audio. Additionally, it is an expandable modular system that easily connects to other ADM Omega desktops over your existing audio network (with Calrec Hydra routing).
