The expected adaptation of Manuel de Pedrolo's work Mechanics of the second origin He has started his filming. The project, initiated by Bigas Luna, is directed by Carles Porta, producer and coguionist of the film, who has a wide career as a writer and journalist.

To give life to the emblematic characters from Segon Origin, Carles Porta will feature English actress Rachel Hurd-Wood (The perfume, Peter Pan) that will play Alba, and the young Andrés Batista and Ibrahim Mané who will give life to Dídac in the different stages (child, young) and who were selected by the same Bigas Luna in a peel where more than 300 young people participated. Also, the film will feature Sergi López (The fauno labyrinth, Harry, a friend who loves you), which will play an enigmatic character.

With script by Bigas Luna, Carles Porta, Carmen Chaves I Ross Jameson, with the collaboration of David Victori and Marcel Barrena, this international co -production moves us science fiction to a totally destroyed world, where love between the only two survivors will be the origin of a new humanity. It is a universal history of adventure with a message that also claims ecology as an essential element for the second opportunity that will allow humanity to begin again.

The filming, which begins on February 24, will take place in Lleida and Tarragona for 7 weeks. "Mechanics of the second origin" is a novel written in 1974 by Manuel de Pedrolo with more than 2,300,000 copies sold. A reference of the science fiction genre and the cornerstone of contemporary Catalan literature.

According to Origin, it is an international co -production of Antàrtida (Spain) and Ipso Facto Films (United Kingdom), with the participation of Televisió de Catalunya and Televisión Española, and the support of Icaa, Ico, ICEC, the Diputación de Lleida, the City of Lleida, the Media program, La Caixa, Museu of Rural Life, Fundació Sorigué, Fruites Font, Ekke and Steel Clean. The film will be shot in Catalan and English.
