LiveU units have allowed numerous broadcasters to transmit more than 500 hours, which is approximately 0.5 TB of data.

LiveU LU500The solutions for contribution based on WiFi, 3G and 4G networks of LiveU have achieved excellent results at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, highlighting the use of the new LU500 with exceptionally high performance. Dozens of LiveU units were deployed by broadcasters and news agencies around the world, with the support of a specialized LiveU team deployed to the Russian city. In total, these drives have transmitted more than 500 hours, which is approximately 0.5 TB of data.

LiveU's backpacks and camera systems provided exciting live coverage with interviews with athletes in both indoor and outdoor venues in sports such as alpine ski slalom, figure skating, ice hockey and curling competitions, as well as interviews with the athletes themselves.

James Bracey, host of Sportsnight on Sky News Australia, was blunt when he stated: "forget satellite. Working for a 24-hour news channel, LiveU is perfect for high quality, cross-connections and a significant number of simultaneous live streams."

LiveU's new LU500 high-performance unit, which weighs around one kilo, played a special role. Camera operator Rachel Price tweeted in reference to the LU500 in Sochi: “the kit we are broadcasting with @BBCNews achieves an incredible 7000kbps… Fits on the back of the camera… achieving incredible results.” Price's LU500 unit was equipped with four 4G and four 3G SIMs with access to four networks. Price LU500 was equipped with four 4G Sims and four 3G Sims accessing four networks.”

In a year of great sporting events, LiveU will not only support the Winter Olympic Games as it will also be very present at the World Cup in Brazil or the Premier League in the United Kingdom. At the World Cup, LiveU will support hundreds of broadcasters and online media from more than 30 participating countries. LiveU and its partners will offer a full range of solutions, as well as on-site support options in the twelve host cities.
