Six cultural centers create an independent film circuit
The exhibition network includes, for the moment, the following spaces: Cineteca Madrid, Tabakalera (Donostia/San Sebastián), MUSAC (Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León), Niemeyer Cultural Center (Asturias), Filmoteca de Culturarts IVAC (Valencia) and CGAI–Filmoteca de Galicia.
Six of the country's main cultural centers have come together to, under the co-distribution formula, create an independent film circuit.
This initiative was born as a network of audiovisual exhibition halls in public cultural centers to accommodate the screening of quality films that, coming from the international festival circuit, do not have distribution in conventional exhibition halls.
The exhibition network includes, for the moment, the following spaces: Cineteca Madrid, Tabakalera (Donostia/San Sebastián), MUSAC (Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León), Niemeyer Cultural Center (Asturias), Filmoteca de Culturarts IVAC (Valencia) and CGAI–Filmoteca de Galicia.
In essence, each center assumes the exhibition rights (limited to cultural centers) of one of the titles and shares the projections with the rest of the venues on the circuit. Unlike other alternative networks, both the programming line and the selection of titles are shared by all the centers which, in this case, always represent public institutions.
This circuit arose with a public service character, with the idea of bringing viewers closer to titles that have not reached the commercial theaters of their cities.
