Javier Fesser finalizes the production of 'Mortadelo y Filemón...'
More than 150 artists and technicians under the direction of Javier Fesser finalize the production of 'Mortadelo y Filemón contra Jimmy el Cachondo' with the most advanced CGI animation, modeling, digital effects and lighting technologies.
After four years of absolute secrecy, this is the first official image of Mortadelo and Filemón against Jimmy the Horny, the new film from director Javier Fesser, whose previous works (Camino, The great adventure of Mortadelo and Filemón and The Miracle of P. Tinto), have been awarded thirteen Goya awards. In production, more than 150 artists and technicians finalize details.
According to Fesser, “it is an urban, domestic story, with clear references to the present, one hundred percent Mortadelo and Filemón, one hundred percent faithful to the work of Francisco Ibáñez. It is an action comedy that uses a devilish rhythm to imitate the master cartoonist, who decided more than fifty years ago not to give his readers any respite by peppering them with overwhelming and surreal visual gags, each one more beastly, each one more witty. A movie-show, familiar if ever there was one, designed to laugh.”
In this absolutely renewed installment of the most popular characters by cartoonist Francisco Ibáñez, Mortadelo and Filemón, published by Ediciones B, come to life through computer animation and in a stereoscopic 3D version.
For the director of this production, "it is about taking advantage of the latest CGI technologies in animation, modeling, digital effects and lighting to reproduce the overflowing expressive capacity of the characters and the universe of vibrant colors created by Ibáñez, just as he conceived it. Just as it is already installed in the collective subconscious. With that wonderfully timeless and universally Spanish flavor that his comics exude."
With a script by Javier Fesser himself, Claro García and Cristóbal Ruiz, Mortadelo and Filemón against Jimmy the Horny, is a production of Zeta Cinema and Movies Pendelton, which is being carried out at the Ilion Studios in Madrid and has the collaboration of TVE, TV3, Canal+ and Ono.
Warner Bros. Pictures Intl. Spain will be responsible for the distribution of the film in Spain, which is scheduled to premiere on November 28, 2014.
