Kudelski will add Conax developments to its portfolio of solutions for content protection, with Nagra as its flagship.

Kudelski

The Austrian group Kudelski has just signed a definitive agreement to acquire Conax, currently held by Telenor Broadcast Holding.

Headquartered in Oslo, Conax is a global provider of solutions for digital television content protection whether in broadcasting, broadband or connected devices.

Conax offers telcos, cable, satellite, IP, mobile and terrestrial operators flexible and cost-effective solutions for the secure delivery of premium content, including its latest generation security platform, Conax Contego, which offers content protection across multiple consumer devices and cross-platform.

André Kudelski, president and CEO of Kudelski, was very happy to "welcome the Conax team to the Kudelski Group. Its geographical presence and portfolio of solutions are complementary to Nagra. With this acquisition, we further expand our client portfolio in Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia."

Conax's customer base will benefit from Kudelski's broad portfolio of solutions such as next-generation OpenTV5 middleware, multi-display/OTT, and SmarDTV's advanced conditional access modules.

The net price of the purchase operation is approximately 200 million Swiss francs (about 163 million euros), and it is expected to be completed in ten days.
