Angénieux debuts its new Optimo 24-290 and 28-340 line at NAB
Integrated into the Optimo line, these mid-budget lenses have been designed with the strictest developments to improve their ergonomics and versatility in production.
The proliferation of 4K makes clear the need for higher image capture quality. A wide range of new generation 35mm digital cameras are now available, used in numerous film productions, advertising or live sports.
In order to contribute to this improvement, Angenieux launches its new Optimo Cine lenses at NAB 2014, in particular the 24-290 and 28-340 models. Integrated into the Optimo line, these mid-budget lenses have been designed with the strictest developments to improve their ergonomics and versatility in production.
Coinciding with this launch, Angénieux has relegated the Optimo DP 30-80 and Optimo 16-42 models, introduced in 2008 and 2009 respectively, to the special 3D package.
As Angénieux promised at NAB 2013, the manufacturer has already delivered the first 56-152 2S anamorphic zooms to users in the United States, Asia and Europe. So far, these lenses have already been used in several productions that had access to the prototype. Angénieux's anamorphic zoom tries to respond to the production needs of filmmakers and directors of photography who want to give maximum depth to their films, spots, video clips...
The cinematographer Gustavo Biazzi, who filmed The sky of the Centaur, by Hugo Santiago, with the Angénieux Optimo 56-152 2S anamorphic zoom lenses, assures that "with the look we needed for the film, our first requirement was to have anamorphic lenses. After analyzing the storyboard, where Hugo wrote his annotations, we realized that we needed a zoom to have the greatest variety of scenes in one shot. The minimum focus distance of 0.63 was essential. Visually, colorimetry is the main characteristics of this zoom. It is exceptional in situations where it is necessary to change focus suddenly. The slow lenses never 'breathe'. In addition, their low weight differentiates these lenses from other anamorphic lenses, thus achieving great versatility."
