Christie's New Line of DCI-Compatible 4K DLP Cinema Projectors

In Amsterdam we will be able to see in action the new Christie CP4230 which offers the improved 4K DLP Cinema chip from Texas Instruments and is designed to be compatible with DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) specifications. Christie's 4K solution incorporates design concepts from the CP2000 line.

Christie will present at IBC 2010 its new line of 4K DLP Cinema digital cinema projectors from the Solaria series. In the world's first demonstration of a 4K DLP Cinema solution, in Amsterdam we will be able to see in action the new Christie CP4230 which features the enhanced 4K DLP Cinema chip from Texas Instruments and is designed to be compatible with DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) specifications.

Christie's 4K solution incorporates design concepts from the CP2000 line. The projectors are the only DLP Cinema solution with the “Christie 4K+4” advantage, which includes: Christie Brilliant3D technology for high-performance 3D, Christie Pixel Track technology for perfect image quality, simple maintenance procedures, and low operating cost. For those looking to upgrade their existing systems, Christie also offers quick conversion, including a “15 minute to 4K” upgrade process.

According to Craig Sholder, vice president of Entertainment Solutions at Christie, “our experience with the 1.2” DLP Cinema chip has given us an advantage over the competition in the development of premium 2K and 4K technology, to keep pace with the deployment of digital cinema.”

Christie plans to launch the Christie Solaria 4K Series this fall, with shipments beginning in early 2011. Christie 4K digital cinema projectors are expected to be priced 35% above 2K projectors. The development of Christie 4K solutions for markets beyond cinema will be based on market demand.
