Through the work of Santiago Posteguillo, Mediapro will transport viewers to ancient Rome in the 3rd century BC, to its political intrigues, its military battles and the daily lives of its protagonists.

Africanus

Mediapro has acquired the rights for the audiovisual adaptation of the three historical novels by Santiago Posteguillo dedicated to Publio Cornelio Escipión (Africanus, the Consul's Son, The Cursed Legions y The betrayal of Rome).

Entertainment and historical rigor are the two concepts that best summarize Posteguillo's work and that will be present in its adaptation. His books about Africanus are full of moments of great emotion, of epic, of heroes, of victories and failures. They have very powerful main plots enriched by subplots that help maintain narrative tension and intrigue. All of this goes hand in hand with very well-built characters with whom the viewer will immediately identify. Like the three novels, its adaptation will be a master class in History by reflecting the documentation and research work that the author carries out and by having specialized advisors.

Considered one of the best Spanish writers, Santiago Posteguillo burst onto the literary scene in 2006 with the publication of this epic trilogy about Scipio. The phenomenon soon began: all readers who immersed themselves in the life of the hero of Ancient Rome were completely captivated and hooked by the novels. This is how the most powerful historical novel long-seller of the last decade began, with nearly 1 million copies sold to date in more than 17 countries, with more than 140 reissues in 7 different formats.
