Atresmedia acquires the rights to the UEFA Champions League
Antena 3 will broadcast the best game on Tuesdays, as well as the final.
Atresmedia Televisión has acquired the free-to-air broadcasting rights to the UEFA Champions League for the 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons. Antena 3 will broadcast the best Champions League match on Tuesdays for free and open-air.
The general director of Atresmedia TV, Javier Bardají, has highlighted that "the first beneficiary will be the viewer since, with this acquisition, we guarantee that the Champions League will be able to be seen for free until 2018. Likewise, it is great news for free-to-air television as a whole, as a category and as a sector, to the extent that it enhances its status as an audience reference for the main television events. And of course, the Champions League ensures that Atresmedia TV will broadcast the best sporting event and consolidates our commitment to a model based on quality and the variety of genres in its programming.”
In addition, during these three years, Atresmedia TV will broadcast the UEFA Champions League, which includes the grand final, as well as the UEFA Super Cup, which pits the Champions League champion against the Europa League champion.
